Roasted Turnip Recipe


Ingredients

1 pound Turnips rinsed

Ghee (Clarified Butter) 

Sea Salt

1 Lemon


Instructions

-Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (218 degrees Celsius).

-Cut turnips into wedges.

-Place them on a baking sheet (can line with parchment) and drizzle with enough ghee to completely coat the turnips (4 tablespoons), then season with salt. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet.

-Bake until golden (25 minutes), flipping each turnip halfway through.

-When done, remove from oven and squeeze the juice of one whole lemon over the top. Serve and have fun.

Easy roasted Turnip are ready to serve.


2.Best Turnip Roasted Recipes

Ingredients

1-2 large turnips

1 tablespoons ground sage

1teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon paprika

2 tablespoons avocado oil


Directions:

-Preheat the pressure cooker to 390°F or the oven to 400°F.

-Cube the turnips and combine all of the ingredients, including the turnips, in a mixing bowl. Marinate for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the outside is brown and the inside is tender.

-Then serve with turnip greens, butter, or an apple/maple sauce, and enjoy!

3.Creamy Mashed Turnips Recipe


INGREDIENTS: 

2 Large Turnips (approx. 1 cup once cubed)

2 TBSP Sour Cream

4oz Cream Cheese (half a block)

1/4 cup Heavy Whipping Cream

1 Beef Bouillon Cube (added to water)

1 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Black Pepper

1 tsp Butter

*Garnish with sprinkle of Dried Chives


DIRECTIONS FOR COOKING: 

1). Peel and cut turnips into small cubes.

2) Fill pot halfway with water, add 1 beef bouillon cube, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until cubes are tender enough to pierce with a fork with little to no resistance.

3) Remove the water.

4). Using a potato masher, mash the cubes.

5). Whisk together the sour cream, cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, and butter. 6). Season with garlic powder and black pepper to taste.

7). Finish with a sprinkling of dried chives (or parsley).

Creamy mashed turnips are ready to serve.


4.Easy Sautéed Turnip Greens

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil 

½ cup chopped yellow onion

3 large cloves garlic, chopped

1 bunch turnip greens

Water or vegetable stock, as needed

Salt and pepper to taste

Juice of ½ to 1 lemon or lime 

Directions:


-Turnip greens should be washed and drained, but not dried or spun. Remove the stems and coarsely chop the greens. Set aside.

-Warm up a large pot on medium heat. Pour in the oil (or water or stock, if preferred). Cook for about 1 minute, or until the onion begins to soften.

-Sauté the garlic for 1 minute more, or until it begins to soften. Add the turnip greens and season with salt and pepper to taste. 

-If necessary, increase the heat to medium-high to keep the vegetables cooking. 

-Cook for 5 minutes, or until the greens are wilted and tender to your liking. 

-If necessary, add a small amount of liquid (water or stock) to the pan at a time to keep the vegetables from getting too dry as they cook. 

-Turn off the heat and stir in as much or as little citrus juice or vinegar as desired. Serve.

5.Soul Food Turnips Recipe

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 cup yellow onions, diced

1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced

1 tablespoon garlic, minced

2 ½ cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon hot sauce

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 fully-cook smoked turkey leg, removed from bone and diced

sea salt & cracked black pepper, add as needed

2.5 pounds turnips greens, washed & cut

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

liquid smoke, 4-8 splashes


Directions:

Rinse the greens thoroughly.

To the water, add apple cider vinegar and salt.

Allow to soak for 10 minutes before repeating the process 3-5 times.

Take the leaves off the stems.

Put the turkey wings in a pot of water.

Allow 45 minutes to boil.

Place the greens in the pot.

Turnips should be peeled.

Cut the turnips into small pieces.

To the pot, add the chopped onions.

To the pot, add the chopped bell peppers.

Mix in the minced garlic.

Give everything a good shake.

Remove the turkey meat from the bone.

Cooking should continue.

Red pepper flakes are optional.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Brown sugar should be added now.

Add the apple cider vinegar.

Add the turnips, chopped.

Simmer the greens until they are tender.
